Jackson Hole Local Dishes

The Wild Sage at the Rusty Parrot Whether served au poivre, with a juniper and black pepper rub, or drizzled with a huckleberry demi-glace, the elk dishes at the Rusty Parrot are famed locally and nationally; not surprising, as the restaurant has earned a AAA Four-Diamond Award and is located within Travel & Leisure’s #1 Hotel in North America, 2005.

The Gunbarrel Though largely popular with tourists, even locals can’t help but be tempted by the restaurant’s signature dish, Velvet Elk: pan-seared tenderloin medallions partnered with mushrooms, leeks and sundried tomatoes, and finished with a red wine demi-glace.

Nora's Fish Creek Inn Any fisherman can tell you: There’s more to Jackson’s local cuisine than elk and buffalo. And Nora’s nut-crusted trout – coated with finely chopped cashews, walnuts, almonds and pecans, and topped with a dab of citrus butter – is a Jackson Hole classic for good reason.

Gamefish Restaurant at the Snake River Lodge They’ve got elk on the menu, but this is the place to go when you’re craving buffalo. Begin with smoked buffalo carpaccio, served over a mushroom salad with Manchego and mustard. Then move on to the buffalo flank steak or pan-seared buffalo tournedos with tamarind-soy reduction.

Snake River Grill It’s unanimous: The elk chops at the Grill, served with buttery garlic mashed potatoes, are Jackson Hole’s best, and they’re served in a gorgeous log dining room with a roaring fireplace.
