Popular Rides Around Jackson
Cache-Game
The Jackson Hole area's classic mountain bike ride is the 18 mile Cache Creek to Game Creek loop. It offers bikers 12 miles riding on trails, six miles being single track downhill through a forest of aspen, pine and fir. Wildlife is abundant on this strikingly beautiful ride, moose and deer spottings being common. The trail ends south of town leaving you six miles of easy riding on our new bike trail to complete the loop. For those who want to skip the ride back to town, the road section, you can shuttle a car to either the Cache Creek or Game Creek parking lots.
Elk Refuge
The Elk Refuge Road provides miles of easy riding along the eastern side of the 25,000 acre National Elk Refuge. Quick access from town and view of the Tetons are two of its highlights.
Above the town of Wilson
A number of steep, technical rides fall into several creek drainages off of Teton Pass. A steep but less technical option would be the semi-paved Old Pass Road, which is reached by turning left across from the Hiedelburg 2.8 miles west of Wilson and driving 1.7 miles to the end of the road.
For more information on these and other rides in and around Jackson, drop by one of the local bike shops. The employees are usually happy to point you in the right direction. If you're heading out on a ride, remember a wind breaker, some non-cotton clothing, a helmet, at least one water bottle, and some snacks for when your stomach starts growling. And lastly, remember to brake for folks on foot or horseback and give them proper courtesy. A certain amount of attitude out on the trails has lately earned mountain bikers a dubious reputation with their non-mechanical brethren who share the trails.
