Jackson Hole WinterFest

The annual Jackson Hole WinterFest is a nearly three-week orgy of on-the-snow fun, excitement and competition.
International Stage Stop Sled Dog Race

Celebrating the best of winter in Jackson Hole, WinterFest features everything from an international dogsled race to downhill skiing competitions at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Snow King Mountain, to Wyoming’s Special Olympics. Listed below are the events you can choose to attend!

WinterFest 2017

Jan. 27: The 21st annual Pedigree International Stage Stop Dog Sled Race kicks off WinterFest on Town Square at 5 p.m. The only race of its kind, it travels through four states, finishing in Evanston (Wyoming). Before the 2-mile race begins at 6:30 p.m., events on the square will include entertainment, a chance to meet some of the sled dogs, prize giveaways and refreshments. This first leg of the eight-stage competition (that continues through February 4th) finishes at Snow King Mountain Resort where there will be a post-race celebration at 8 p.m. featuring a torchlight parade and fireworks.

Feb. 4: Grand National Powder 8’s at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. This historic competition takes place on the face Cody Bowl, just outside the ski area boundary,  starting at 10:30 a.m. We recommend viewing from Rendezvous Bowl or the top of the Aerial Tram.

Feb 7-9: Special Olympics Wyoming Winter Games, featuring 200 athletes.

Jackson Hole Cutter Races

Feb. 11-12: 5th Annual Jackson Hole Skijoring competition. There is perhaps no better representation of the historic crossroad of cowboys and skiers in Jackson Hole than the sport of Skijoring. The race consists of an adrenaline packed 15 to 20 seconds where a skier gets pulled behind a horse, reaching speeds of up to 40 miles per hour while maneuvering various gates and obstacles. Think of it as a rodeo on snow! The event takes place at the Snake River Ranch, just across the highway from the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s Ranch lot. - jhshriners.org

Feb 19-22: The Wild West FIS Elite Classic is one of the premier regional ski racing events that the Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club has been hosting for more than 10 years. FIS-level racers come from all over the world to compete in two days of Slalom and Giant Slalom. Races will be at Snow King Mountain. - snowkingmountain.com
