When you’re visiting the Tetons you can not only hear live music in Jackson Hole by local bands but also those who are well-known on the regional and national levels. From open mic nights to days-long music festivals and summer concert series, you can be assured there is live music everywhere in Jackson Hole. Perhaps the music you hear will be the soundtrack of your trip.
Many Bars/Restaurants Feature Live Music
Stagecoach Bar: On Sunday nights you can hear the Stagecoach Band (pictured above) which has been playing for more than 50 years at “Sunday Church.” Considered by many to be the longest continuously-running house band performing today in America, the Stagecoach band’s co-founder Bill Briggs recalls that there’s always been something about the performance that has a spiritual and community-minded focus. Acclaimed musicians from Tim O’Brien, Tom Paxton and Chuck Pyle, to John Denver and Bob Dylan have all shared the stage at the ‘Coach. The music starts at 6 p.m.
The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar on Town Square has live music seven days a week. It also presents a special Million Dollar Music Fest in May. For tickets to the music fest, visit milliondollarcowboybar.com.
The Silver Dollar Showroom is located in the Wort Hotel and was reborn several years ago in the spirit of the Wort Hotel’s old Greenback Lounge, which was often referred to as “The Showroom.” In the 1950s it was widely known as one of the premier music venues in the West. It hosted stars of all genres, including Willie Nelson. The venue gets its name from the thousands of real 1921 Morgan Silver Dollars embedded into the bar top. Music starts at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and there is no cover charge. Don’t miss the standing Tuesday bluegrass show with One Ton Pig, a local Jackson Hole band and the iconic Hootenanny which is held at 6 p.m. on Mondays during the winter months; come summer, the Hoot is held outside at Dornans in Moose.
For 60 years, the iconic and eclectic Mangy Moose Saloon — the après-ski hot spot in winter — hosts local bands that play from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Sunday during ski season (no cover). Regional and national bands play off and on throughout the year (visit website for schedules).
The Virginian Saloon in the iconic Virginian Lodge offers live music Thursday through Saturday nights starting at 9 p.m., plus karaoke on Wednesday - virginiansaloon.com
Live Music in Jackson Hole Includes Open Mics
The Jackson Hole Hootenanny is the granddaddy of the open mic phenomenon here in the valley. It is held at 6 p.m. every Monday at The Silver Dollar Showroom in the Wort Hotel; it is performed at Dornans in Moose during the summer months. The Hootenanny goes back more than half a century ago to when local legend Bill Briggs held “Teton Tea Parties” under a bridge in Grand Teton National Park, where artists gathered and sang together. In the ’90s the Hoot moved to Dornan’s after a short stint in town and recently took up residence at the Wort. Like the other open mics around the valley, it features both established and new Jackson musicians as well as troubadours passing through.
Cowboy Coffee, located on the Town Square, holds an open mic night at 6:30 p.m. every Thursday.
The Virginian Saloon also has an open mic at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays.
Attend a Concert in a Large Venue
The Center for the Arts: This gem of a creative facility in Jackson Hole—which is celebrating its 17th anniversary in 2024—hosts a range of performing arts, lectures, events, art shows and features world-class musical performances. Local, regional and national musicians such as David Crosby and Chris Thile have appeared on stage in the Center’s theater. Music Festivals and Outdoor Concert Series
The annual Jackson Hole Rendezvous Fest is held in early April. The free, two-day festival with local and national bands performing at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and on Town Square is one the highlights of the winter. Past festival headliners have included Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats, Portugal. The Man, Uncle Kracker and the Zac Brown Band.
The Grand Teton Music Festival presents world-renowned classical musicians, soloists, and orchestras as a part of Grand Teton Music Festival’s seven-week summer concert series. Performances take place in Walk Festival Hall in Teton Village. Visit gtmf.org for the 2024 schedule.
Concerts on the Commons in Teton Village hosts local, regional and national bands on Sundays at 5 p.m. during July and August. Bring your dancing shoes as many people can’t resist the chance to boogie by the stage. Free.
Snow King Mountain Resort presents King Concerts Summer Series at the summit stage. The summit stage sits at roughly 8,000 feet with spectacular views of the Teton mountain range and is accessed via a five-minute scenic gondola ride. There will be eight concerts presented in 2024 on June 27th, 28th, 29th, July 5th, 6th, 16th, 25th and August 2nd. Ticket prices vary for each concert. For more info, visit snowkingmountain.com.
At the top of the Bridger Gondola at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is the summer series Live Music at the Deck where local musicians play from 5:30 to 8 p.m.; gondola tickets are $18; food and drink are available for purchase.
Music on Main: Not all live music in Jackson Hole takes place in town. Music on Main is a free all-ages outdoor concert series held on Thursday nights in the summer. It brings a diverse lineup to Victor City Park in Victor, Idaho, less than a half-hour drive from Jackson Hole. Concert-goers bring blankets and chairs to enjoy the music under starry skies. In 2024, the series will run from June 20th through August 15th. Performance times are 6 to 10 p.m. Find out more about this fun family-friendly series here.
Grand Targhee Resort in Alta, Wyoming, will host its 34th Annual Targhee Bluegrass Festival from August 9th through 11th. This always-popular music fest will feature Yonder Mountain String Band, Joe Craven, The Wood Brothers and many more artists.

Other Live Music Opportunities
"Music Mondays" is offered for free at 7 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Amphitheater starting TBA. The concerts feature popular local and regional bands. Bring a blanket, some snacks and purchase a drink from The Center bar.
The annual Teton County Fair has set the fair concert for TBA, in the Rodeo Arena.
